Attendant: I don't mean to accuse, but did you get gas?
Me: No, I got a cookie.
He leaves without explanation or apology. What the hell was that all about? I've gone to that particular Sheetz without purchasing gas, oh, about a couple of octillion times, and nobody has ever come out of the damn store to accuse me of pumping without paying. Randy thinks they had a drive-away and were looking for the thief or maybe someone hadn't paid for their gas yet, but if I were going to steal gas, why would I stand outside with food and then go sit in my car? Why would I even park to begin with? I would pump and leave. What do you think - is this the result of some sensible policy or were they being suspicious for no damn reason at all? (I was a ways down the road before I realized how bizarre it was. In an ideal situation, I would have gone in and asked the manager about it.)
