And now for something completely different
You know what calms my bad moods? Sleepy Chester stretching out his big feet on the shelf right next to my computer where I can reach over and pet his plush fur.

I also realized that I forgot to share the awesome speed run movies of various games that I found earlier in the week.

Majora's Mask 6 day challenge - Just as it says, he literally finishes the game within 6 in-game days. If you're not familiar with Majora's Mask, take my word that this is quite an excellent achievement.

Tool-assisted videos - If you liked that lightning-fast Super Mario 3 runthrough that was pretty popular in recent memory, you'll enjoy these movies as well. Out of the ones I've seen so far, Acmlm's Dragon Warrior video amused me the most. He abuses the game's pseudo-randomization of battles to immediately run all the way across the map without getting any battles and then fight nothing but Metal Slimes and kill them all with critical hits. Again, if you have no idea what I'm talking about...think of it as driving off to another state with a ginormous lottery jackpot, being able to speed flagrantly the entire way because there's no traffic or cops out, and buying a winning ticket. Now if only they made a save state-enabled emulator for the real world...

They have GOT to find a better way to distribute these videos than BitTorrent. I'm having all kinds of problems getting on any network (I'm using Shareaza and if I can get on anything, it's Gnutella1. There's gotta be a better client for BT than this.

Yeah, it sucked when I tried to download the Deadly Towers video and nobody was seeding. I eventually got it, but it was still annoying having to wait for a seed to appear. As far as clients go, I've never tried Shareaza...I'm just using the command-line BT dealybob that I got when I installed the bittorrent Debian package. I give it a link to the tracker and it does its thing. I've heard good things about Azureus, but I've never played with that either.

If you want any particular videos, let me know and I'll download them and leave the connection open for a few days or whatnot. I don't know if it will help right away (especially if I can't get a seed to begin with), but I leave my computer on 24-7 and have plenty of bandwidth to burn, so I don't mind sharing. ^_^

I did notice that after a while. The first ones I downloaded were the popular ones (Mario, Zelda, etc) but some of the others can take a while.

Even if he used scripts to attack the randomization, the guy on DW1 is still very impressive. It's good to see that games that I wasted so much time on still have people wasting their time on them.
