Staring down the barrel of a...ancient Chinese cleaver
After about two and a half hours of work, I now have a nearly-finished plywood sword core. I cut it out with a Dremel and refined it with files and 60-grit sandpaper. The title is a reference to my just-invented trick of looking down the blade to find irregularities that aren't visible when you're viewing the sword from the side. (Being the anal-retentive person that I am, I just had to catch 'em all.) All I have to do is sand or file the bottom edge to look more like a sword blade, and then we laminate it. w00t. More on that later.
