I've been searching high and low for a pair of nearly no-heeled tall white boots to alter for my Zhang He costume. I finally found one that seemed perfect and ordered it. I just got an email from the Retro Diva webmaster saying that the company who made said boots had quit producing them in white and never told her...so all I can do is cancel the order and hope something else comes along. The next closest match would be a pair of matte go-go boots, but you can't get those without a heel. Blergh. At least they can be painted (the w00t shoe dye that I was going to use is supposed to work on synthetic materials). Still, though, why in flippin' hell is it so difficult to find knee height or taller women's boots without a noticeable heel? Doesn't anybody understand that some of us would actually want a funky flat-soled boot? Aaaahhhhh!!!

Of course, there is always the dreaded bootcover route. I'm going to need to cover a pair of footwear for Rando's costume anyway (Xiahou Dun's boots are green and look like they're supposed to be made of fabric), so maybe it might not be a bad idea to do the same with mine...

funky boots 101
i needed black boots with no heel for a costume once, and i found them in the little girl's section of kohl's on a clearance rack. it really depends on whether or not you can get your toes into a children's size - i'm a 7 1/2 in grown up shoes, so i can usually manage a 5 1/2 in the children's section.

but basically, children's shoes = no heels and usually way cheaper!

I was looking for knee-high no-heel white boots for a costume a couple years ago... Never did find anything though :(

Would a pair of majorette/drill team boots do? I've seen some that are about 1/2" heel and knee high, and they definitely do come in white.
