Time to write an entire fricking novel from scratch in a month.
Just like last year, I have an opening scene, the beginnings of a back story, and not much else. I did sketch out a sequence past the opening scene a couple of months ago to be sure that the story idea could go somewhere and I'd enjoy working with it. I also wrote down what I know about the main character.
Unlike last year, I knew about NaNoWriMo ahead of time. But although I started a week late, I finished all my words, and I liked what I came up with. I'm still working on the second draft, but at least I have all the dots connected now, which is more than I could say a month ago. Let's hope for another complete rough draft with enough good ideas to revise into a novella.
3:37 a.m. A man wakes from restless dreams. Something feels wrong. Something is wrong. Something is in his house.
And so it begins.
