I may make it a bit fancier - it came in well under the icon size limit - but I don't really feel like messing with it any more.

I decided that I liked Bed, Bath, and Beyond's Cambria curtain rods better than the other ones I'd been looking at. They're thicker, the dark brown burnished finish goes better with the wooden window frames, and they have good-looking brackets. So many decorative metal rods come with utilitarian brackets. I don't understand that. You're going to see the brackets. Why would you want a nice rod and blah brackets?

At any rate, I stopped into BB&B on the way home today to see if they had enough dark brown rods for my living room windows. They did. So I bought them. Later, I had the following conversation with my husband.

Me: Blah blah blah curtain rods. I got ball finials...is that ok?
Randy: What's a finial?

Don't get me wrong. I think it's great that we don't argue about aesthetics. I'm just amused. Besides, he wants to know how many of you folks out in LJ Land don't know what a finial is, either.

i do know what a finial is, but that's because of my not-so-glorious pre-library days working in hardware and linens stores. i like the glass ones with bubbles in them, meself.

i, too, know what a finial is; of course, i've been looking at curtain/window treatment sites for awhile...

I have no idea what finials are.

Karine made the curtains herself for our apartment...

I wanna say they're those thingies you screw onto the end of fancy curtain rods to keep the curtains on the rods, but don't make fun of me if I'm wrong.

I also know what finials are. Then again I'm not most people.

Does it make me gay if I know what it is?

What if I ask what color the curtains are, and if the cats are pestering them?

What if I say I took down my bedroom closet doors and hung drapes there instead?

1) Once again, you say something hilarious that I can't form an appropriately witty response to. Blargh.

2) The curtains we currently have are pink. The new ones are a sage-colored leaf print. (picture) The cats don't bother the existing curtains, and the new ones are tightly woven, so I think they should be kitty-safe as well.

3) I think that's a pretty cool idea.

Cool curtains. Green is my favorite color.

I took some random interior design color personality quiz and got green, which doesn't surprise me because it's my favorite main color for the living room. I prefer cool colors, and I thought light-medium curtains would be ideal because the living and dining room are wide and open with multiple large windows (so dark/bold curtains would weigh down the space). When I started looking at light-medium curtains, I immediately liked the sage green ones best.

I know what finials are. I got a pair of snazzy art deco style finials for my living room.
