I've run out of steam from the beginning, but I like what I've managed to figure out afterward. I'm keeping a separate file for brainstorming without screwing up my word count. I ran into my first "even I don't know what the hell that thing is or what it wants, but I guess I have to deal with it" part, but when I sketched out all the possibilities for the thing's basic personality and the end of the scene, it didn't take long to figure out what I liked best - something that didn't seem too cliche and would allow for more possibilities of interesting stuff happening later on. I really wish I could babble in a way that makes sense to people who don't have the actual story sitting in front of them, but I don't want to ruin it.
The main problem is that I'm beginning to creep myself out. Last night, I was working on the novel during a wind storm, and I heard some random noise just outside and I literally jumped. Why did my best inspiration for NaNo have to be a scary story? *cowers*
