Somebody stop me
I had more than a passing thought of attempting a Dark Knight dressphere from FFX-2. It's funny how challenging costumes have been so addictive to me. I was told that stretch fabric was a real pain in the ass to work with, and then I went and made an entire outfit out of it. I looked at the horns and armor on Rikku's Berserker outfit and thought "Nah", but said outfit was so cool that I had to go ahead and start it anyway, and I'm forging ahead quite nicely. And now I read a tutorial on fiberglassing and it honestly doesn't sound that scary. You wear a mask and gloves, do all your work outside, make sure to keep a power sander handy, and prepare for a mega mess. If you fux0r up, you can put more fiberglass on the oops and sand it some more. (Josh told me about his aerospace lab where they had to fiberglass an airplane body with amazing precision, using 600-grit sandpaper for the final finishing. If they scratched it, they had to spackle 'n sand until it was perfectly smooth again.) For small mistakes, there's Bondo. You can't sculpt with fiberglass, but you can glop it on and sand the hell out of the result, and it's light and durable when it's all done. Of course, it looks awesome. I've seen well-done fiberglass costumes, and they never fail to impress me.

Cool. I'll be sure to keep a hose handy when I start playing with this stuff... ^_^
